Education rights in Nigeria

Our Education Law Series on “Empowering Nigerian Students with Education Rights” is our commitment to bridging the education and students’ rights knowledge gap among Nigerian students.

We provoke students’ rights awareness by equipping Nigerian students with clear and practical knowledge of students’ education rights and helping to drive Nigeria’s attainment of SDG (Sustainable Development Goal) 4 on Quality Education.

Background
Although Western education started in Nigeria around 1840 when the British Missionaries established the first school, SRJ Legal is Nigeria’s bespoke education law firm.

Our education law team are dedicated to partnering with all stakeholders in Nigeria’s education sector, whether in regulatory, compliance, policies, transactional, or dispute resolution.

Admittedly, lawyers and law firms have serviced and currently work in Nigeria’s education sector, but our Education Lawyers who favour domain expertise understand the evolving demands of the education sector.

It is also true that Nigeria’s education sector is not globally recognized, although Nigerian universities had international students from the 70s through the 80s.

Moreover, Alumni relations and network management are globally recognized pillars of education, but Nigerian schools are not very intentional about respect for students’ rights across the schools.

Students are unaware of their educational rights and rights as students. Consumer protection groups and regulatory agencies do not see students as consumers under the consumer protection laws.

Our education lawyers recollect how a Nigerian student furiously attempted to instruct our education lawyers to sue a law lecturer who assaulted the then-student in 2007. The law lecturer had slapped the student across the face.

We know every student deserves to understand and exercise their rights within the educational system.

That is why we are thrilled to launch our education law series on “Empowering Nigerian Students with Education Rights”, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at helping Nigerian students and educational institutions know, understand, and protect their rights.

Education Law Series

Our Education Law Series helps schools, school owners, students, parents, and regulators understand specific aspects of education law and policies.

This students’ rights awareness campaign is focused on helping students and schools understand students’ and education rights.

Our education lawyers simplify complex legal rights in education and make them available to students, parents, and educators.

Why This Matters

In Nigeria, education rights and students’ rights are largely unorganized, and many students lack the resources to understand and advocate for these rights fully.

From fair treatment and data protection in schools to freedom from discrimination and harassment, this students’ rights awareness campaign seeks to bridge the knowledge gap by providing clear, concise, and engaging resources on the rights of students in Nigeria.

Our Virtual Classroom

The students’ rights awareness campaign is a dynamic series intended to spark real-time conversations around education and students’ rights. And where better to join us than on Instagram Live?

Furthermore, the student’s rights awareness class is free, but registration is required for seamless cooperation with the intended participants.
