So who is the next big thing after Alhaji Aliko Dangote ? Our education law practice team launched the next big thing, a get-together between inspiring and successful leaders or professionals with Nigerian students. Our Guests foster meaningful conversations with tertiary students who are the future of our tomorrow. Yes, people like Alhaji Aliko Dangote are the big thing, but students walk away from our get-together feeling they are the next big thing.
The Background
One evening, after work, in January 2025, ‘Zaram, a five-year-old daughter, practically stoped her father at the door, shouting excitedly, Daddy! this is “Dangote, the richest man in Africa!”
A few weeks later, it happened again. Same energy. This time, ‘Zaram was waving her elder brother’s textbook, pointing at a page with a photo of Alhaji Aliko Dangote. She did not wait for her father. She read it aloud with pride in her eyes.
The father may not remember how he responded but he knew how the daughter felt. The question was, what if we could put this little girl and her friends in the same room with someone like Dangote.
Would that not change everything? So, he spoke with ‘Zaram‘s head teacher. She said it would be a “big thing.” And just like that, the idea started clicking.
Yes, Aliko Dangote is a big thing. But every young person – from a child in pre-school in Daura, to tertiary school students – who attend the next big thing event should walk away feeling they’re the next big thing. Because they are.
Why next big thing?
The next big thing is more than a project. It’s a growing community where every Nigerian student and pupil – from tertiary, secondary, primary, and pre-school – connects with real role models they can relate to, learn from, and grow with.
We are talking about successful creatives, executives, entrepreneurs, and professionals – success means the progressive realisation of worthy ideals.
The role models in these get-together, hybrid or in-campus, share inspiring stories that spark in the students. The next big thing events hold the African way with a mix of fun, laughter, and, above all, music, not just lectures.
Who is It For?
- Tertiary students –from public or private Nigerian universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, nursing schools, TVET, military academies, and tertiary institutions.
- Secondary and primary students – Rolling out in phases because early exposure = lifelong confidence
- Future leaders – In school, in business, in life
What Makes next big thing Different?
Before there were schools, Africans learned by watching those ahead of them – through storytelling, shadowing, and shared experience.
That’s the power of role modeling. That’s what we next big thing brings to the community with a 21st-century remix.
And yes, we’re flipping the classroom experience. We are doing it the family get-together way, with DJ and fun-filled while retaining everything intellectual. That’s why our next big thing is more than just another talk, it’s a whole vibe.
Above All
The next big thing isn’t about us. It is about every young Nigerian who needs assurance. Everyone needs someone to help them figure out life and living.
We’re building a community where no one ever says, “I had no one to help me.” Because when you walk with people who’ve been there, you don’t walk alone.
