Access to justice begins with access to the Law. In line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 16 that calls for promoting the rule of Law, equal access to justice, and public access to information, we are making the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority Law 2021 available for free, non-commercial download here.
This Law, published in the Lagos State Gazette and credited to the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority Board, regulates lotteries, gaming, and related activities in Lagos State.
The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority Law 2021 affect operators, schools, non-profits, and consumers in areas many do not realise, such as raffles at charitable or school events.
The legal principle that ignorance of the Law is no excuse presupposes that the public can freely and easily read the Law.
Without unhindered access to legislation, citizens and organisations are disadvantaged, compliance is more complex, and access to justice is diminished.
Our decision to enable free access is a step toward removing financial and procedural barriers, fostering compliance, and supporting informed civic participation in Lagos State’s gaming and lottery sector.
